WOOD LINED WALLS IN BACKGROUND
USUALLY WITH GEOMETRICAL FORMSBased in Herbert Lottman's "Prince of Montparnasse" (page 186) the 1st Lunia portrait was made in the Hotel Sunny in the winter of 1916 or fisrt days of 1917 at 48th Port Royal Blvrd. Probably true because he mentions upon recalls from Lunia that the painting fall during the process and a match that was in the floor stuck to the painting and actually the match still in the painting. So the painting at the down was made in the Hotel de Sunny in December 1916 or January 1917 And just a little time later Zborowski and wife moved to Joseph Bara Blv. where Modigliani will paint in his own room with Zborowski as his dealer. 1917 Lunia Czechowska |
