Other | Not in D´Atri papers. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The signature of the painting: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The painting was cleaned in 2007 by the Chicago art Institute restorer Faye Wrubel and the surprise of the bright colors distorted totally the previous idea of the painting a dark yellow varnish layer was retired discovering Bright colors that are usual in this period, she did a magnificent work: Restoration/cleaning respected all the light and colors: This cleaning discovered the real color of the necklace, the removed chair by the painter and changed completely the position of the portrayed, the green blue shadow on the back made the sitter increase by the trick of the position against the background. It was a totally successful work. This is the typical example that will make a connoisseur expert to say that the restored/clean painting was a fake because Modigliani never did green blue shadow and such a bright background and this work even if magnificent is rare for the 1916/17 production. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Framed in Chicago Art Institute at exhibition (unknown date): |
