His main book on Modigliani is:

Modigliani 1884-1920. Catalogue Raisonné: Sa Vie, Son Oeuvre Complet, Son Art - Barcelona: Graficas Condal, 1970.
The typical european connoisseur book, full of mistakes, opinions and comparisons of curves and contra curves...

In this canvas (of magnificent colors), Modigliani applies some constructivist reminds, but overall is a example of deep psychology and of great art

No location, provenance, history, etc...

The truth is:
65 x 43.5 cm
Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, France

And a complete fake...
Yes at a first view it seems to be nice, but science can see what our eyes cant see.

X ray and pigments analysis...
In Amedeo Modigliani, 1884-1920 by the Musée de art moderne de la Ville de Paris,
March-June 1981. Page 41 Dr. Suzy Delbourgo and Dr. Lola Faillant-Dumas from the research laboratories of the French museums explain under fake and attributions:

Thus, the portrait of the woman with earrings (Nº 253), X-ray image shows a disordered image, without precise drawing, in opposite of the images obtained of works by Modigliani. 
Contours and borders are made with brushstrokes parallel to the contours of the face and along the neck. (Modigliani never painted/constructed that way)

The background is not correctly worked, it is empty. Not as in Modigliani who made them anime and vibrant.

In this emotive portrait you can see a deep tenderness and a deep psychology


No location, provenance, history, etc...

* To make it easier for him and avoid measuring, he decided to use common fabric canvas sizes, the best way to not have one correct.
They were all pre-industrial so no exact measure apply.

March-June 1981. Page 41 Dr. Suzy Delbourgo and Dr. Lola Faillant-Dumas from the research laboratories of the French museums explain under fake and attributions:

Same case as previous, X-ray image shows a disordered image, the structure of the work is not constructed, the contours are out of placement opposite as modigliani , the line has been painted over the figure, the brush stoke is formed by long, plain and dull brush work in opposite to Modigliani brush work configured or round and perpendicular brush play.

Thérèse Castieau-Barielle (La vie et l' oeuvre de Amadeo Modigliani, ACR Édition/Vilo) and Christian Parisot (Modigliani, Caja de pensiones, Madrid/June 1983) also show this work as an original by Modigliani.




Actually his opinion is perfect to fill the notes & records for the auction houses.
But only when it also have the Ceroni name in the list...

If a Modigliani painting only bears the opinion by Lanthemann, it will never hit the floor of the main auction houses.
