GALERIE BERTHE WEILL

EXPOSITION DE PEINTURES ET DESSINS DE MODIGLIANI
THE ONLY SOLO LIVING EXHIBITION

PARIS 1917

(3 DEC -30 DECEMBER 1917)

The exhibit was organized by Zborowski is probably his moment of biggest success (historically speaking)
In that moment is seamt like a failure, only 2 drawings sold to the public and a huge scandal.
(Berthe who was clever and had a fine eye acquired 5 paintings for herself)
The police maid a raid in the exhibit because there was nude in the window and it caused some sort of harm to the
puritanism neighbourhood (the pubic hair was visible)...
The myth say that the police closed the show, but the reality it they just had to change the window painting, the nudes remained in the inner side of the gallery.
and the exhibition went to the end of the time originally scheduled.
