PRESENTED IN ROME AT: "Modigliani. Segno e tradizione"

At Palazzo della Cancelleria

Until April 2012.

Fasten your seatbelts...
Now Modigliani was a militant Jew who used old books (in German, French or Italian) to give air to his cabalistic and seffardic knowledge along with drawings from various stages of his production, totally in his recognizable style.

Thank God they are conveniently signed or it would be impossible to offer clear expert opinions, and they could be really important to explain "his use of geometry".

ENJOY:

A document with his signature, interesting to see that his childhood signature is almost identical to the one used in his mature years.

More rare documents, incredible to find them.

Take a look at the exhibit about Simone Thiroux with a lot of similar "things" he has found in flea markets. link >>
(told he found things there during various interviews and in a French police declaration)

If someone thinks that his curatorial work is fine, just take a look at his last in Rome:"Modigliani. Segno e tradizione"
Palazzo della Cancelleria, March 27th to 11th April 2012.
This one is really NIFTY.

Brilliant--to save money they use Ikea frames...

but wait a minute...shouldn't they be concerned about the acidity
of the paper used with the US$9.99 frame made in Pakistan?

TO READ THIS SEEMS TO BE INCREDIBLE BUT IT WAS THERE... ( HOW CAN THEY HAVE COPYRIGHT???)

Nobody noted it seem to be the sketch
(in a much more curly and corny 60's postcard style)
for the Hanka portrait dated in 1917
(DATED one year later to the date given by the gallery for the sketch)
presently in the National Gallery in Rome?????

Other fantastic discoveries from the same exhibition in Prague

Amedeo Modigliani, Drawings. called by him: The "Carnet Armenien"

This is the name of a sketch book discovered by Who knows? Where? When? but presented by Parisot and named by Who knows? Where? When? as above.

The sketch book is full of drawings and is described in the catalogue as:
preliminary sketches “prememoria“ for oil painting, depicting a man, a woman, a Cabalist symbol.
Paris, 1916.
Well “Prememoria” means previously to memory or by memory?...
Why did Modigliani waste paper painting sketches for the paintings he had done a few years previously and a year later (really who cares...)
Here is a little work on the images in the "Carnet":
